Don't let Cocoa fool you though. I got my first ear bite today. I can honestly say it hurts worse than it looks!
And of course, it was my fault. She was fiesty tonight so I put her to bed with her stick but I didn't close the door because I went to refill her water. I always put the lights out to get the boys to bed and I automatically hit the switch on my way back into the room with the water. Well Cocoa had climbed back out of her cage while I was gone. Being out and in the dark must have scared her because she launched herself across the room onto my back and hung on to the closest thing...my ear! I finally got her to let go and chomp my finger instead so I could manouver to unceremoniously dump her back in her cage. Then we both got a time out. LOL!
I know it is not as bad as some people have posted but it sure as hell hurts. So there is my amazon fear...it happened...I lived to tell about it. We are both still here LOL! Now she is cooing and looking like butter wouldn't melt.

At least it was because she was spooked & it wasn't really on purpose other than to hang on.

When they suddenly grab your ear unexpectedly of course it really hurts no matter how bad the bite actually is. Lurch used to peck our necks to get his point across, but the one day he was really put out and really BIT my ear it HURT BAD. We both got a time out too for both our well being. I learned to never have him on my shoulder when I'm eating something he might suddenly decide he wants....
In a weird way it was good it happened. I have been afraid of a real bite and now I have one under my belt and we all lived through it. Most of the bite was inside the rim if my ear and because of my blood thinners it did bleed (all over my pillow case
) but now I know I can take it and I am less afraid. I also now know never to be in so much of a hurry that you forget to respect the beak!Begone

Ear bite hurt so much! So sorry!
Eloy did have some bad hormonal periods and he was always getting my ears. (and I have to bend his beak before he to let go)
I have no idea of how many bites it was, but I never get used to the pain.
The boys are cute as always,
and I think Miss Cocoa is wondering how your ears taste..
