So, I had to dig up four perfectly healthy plum trees because the silly things decided to pop up right were our fence is. I've had to put them in a pot for now, as they're still tiny.

Would they be safe to take inside for the fids? I was thinking of transplanting one into the huge pot we have and bringing it in my room.

:( Aw darn it. Ah well, I can just leave them outside until we both know for sure.

The plums in question. Pot is too small, but I'm waiting to see if any take. The lil things on either side are my pine berries.

Plum is on most toxic wood lists. I wouldn't use it. They look very cute - hope they take - it's exciting growing things for free! :D

Then they get to stay outside. It's a shame, but it's for the best.

And they weren't exactly free... I had to spend an hour digging them up and arguing with my family that they shouldn't get chucked.

Any of the stone fruit trees are considered not safe - plum, peach, nectarine, etc :)

I have been using both plum and cherry with no problem at all.
I have also ask several vets and none of them are saying that they are poison. (more that they contain hydrocyanic)
But as they do contain hydrocyanic, don't feed them with fresh leaf and shoot, but it's fine to use them as branches.
IMO soil can be a lot more dangerous. Both with pesticides and mold.

Here is plum and cherry:
