What an honour

I've always wanted to pet Guzma, but he's been very wary of hands. Usually, I'll try to bring my fingers close, and he'll it me know he's uncomfortable with it and that was that (he'd open his beak and pretend to lunge). I didn't want to force him and was fine with him just having his personal space.

That was until today. He decided to land on me and tucked his head down like he wanted pets. I never saw him do this before, but reached out for him and he just stayed there for a good 10 minutes enjoying himself.

He's also decided he likes stepping up in my cupped hands. He likes it so much that he'll fly in front of me and land at my feet until I bend down and offer him a lift.

It's really the best feeling in the world, isn't it? You have this animal who could easily fly away chose to fly to you and be with you. He even let me sort of cup him against my chest for a spell. He could wiggle out at any point, but stayed for a good minute or two before deciding he'd had enough and wanted to go sleep on the modem again.

And Dorian gave my hand a testing bite tonight as I was putting him to bed! He usually panics and flies away, but he just hopped on my palm after I dimmed the lights, gently chomped at my fingers, then stayed there as I put him to bed. What a wonderful day!

Now he won't leave me so I can do my chores. He just wants to be everywhere I'm at.

And we had an enlightening conversation.

Me: Can I take your picture?
Guzma: No.
Me: Yes?
Guzma: No!
Me: Okay... I'll take Mimikyu's picture! Guzma: NO! (He proceeds to bite my arm)
Me: I'm telling everyone that you bit me!
Guzma: ... no.

And now he's sitting on my shoulder quietly, preening himself.
