Is this mop safe for a plucking bird?

IMG_5672.JPG Hi, everyone. Sammy's still having some plucking issues, and it's breaking my heart. It doesn't seem to be medical, and we've tried changing diet, toys, sunlight, attention, etc. Some people have suggested a mop head as a toy, and someone got me this one. It's a cotton blend. Do you think it's safe?

It's the "blend" that is concerning. If it's nylon or some other really strong string then it is dangerous. To be safe the fibres should break easily which is why 100% cotton is recommended. Your biggest concern when using these types of toys is to make sure your bird has well groomed nails. As in well blunted/rounded so there are no really sharp tips to get caught/catch.

He could get strangled in the strings. Look for safe bird toys specially made for pluckers.

I would get toys designed for that purpose as well.
