Well. We just got 2 new little feathered friends..
I honeslty couldnt resist too.
Male and Female (Cockatiel)
Plus, from how they lived before, i wanted to help out.
1.Their cage was way too small (Picture)
2.I think they were only fed "Fruit flavored " pellets
3.There was a "cosy hut" green fuzzy toy thing (which i threw away)

But now they're in our hands, with a bigger cage, which im planning on getting a even bigger one some time. And im giving them lots of seed (they eat it like they never have before) and ill convert them to the pellets i have some time as well. While he was showing them to us, he grabbed them, like with his whole hand around them and pulled them out despite them trying to hold on to the perches.
They have trust issues, (im working on it) And the female will go to the cage wall and hold on to the bars if i open the cage door, but i talk to them gently and she'll calm down. Plus, he clipped their wings wayyyy to short and uneven. They cant fly, at. All. If they try theyll go straight down.
My brother and i are working with them, and now they arent afraid as much and wil accept food from our hands !
they are very sweet :angelic:
Also they seem alot better in our care so far :D

Well, introducing 2-year old Batman and Pepper :)
(The pictures below are from the previous owner, ill get nicer pics soon)
(Please tell me if im doing anything wrong aswell )

Oh my gosh they were both in that tiny cage?!? Thank you for taking them! I know losing your other bird was hard, it sounds like these two are already helping mend your heart while you heal theirs

I'm glad you decided to help some other birds in need. When one door closes another opens and you can all concentrate on giving them a good life and it will be good for all of you :hug8:

So far, they'll just sit next to eachother, and take turns going down to eat seed every hour of so, plus grooming eachother too.
Theyre really cute, and ill find a day for checkups. Im still conserned that they were only fed colored pellets..
Im working with them, trust mostly .
Ill definetly post updates with progess :joyful:

I just rescued a two year old "Tiel yesterday!!! He didn't even have a name other than being called "that Dang Bird"... :(
And there are two more on Cragslist that are in dire need of help, but I don't know how to deal with a female laying eggs constantly, so I am hoping they find a good home soon!!! I may contact the person and tell them about the Bird Sanctuary we have about 30 minutes away from here.
Anyway, Love your babies!!!! I know they have a great home now!!! :pinklol3:

Awe. Hooe you find a good name for him @Jenw12 !
Cockatiels are sure alot to handle.. ;)
I named him Mickey Dallas :) Mickey after Mickey Mouse and Dallas after the book "The Outsiders". Plus they have great meanings behind them.

I wish people did their homework before getting any type of animal... He was in a pitiful situation.

Oh I love The outsiders! Good book.
Cute name !

Agreed, acually cockatiels are one of the most given up bird because people think they can just teach them to love everyone and it'll be easy. Nope.

Anyways lets put that behind us, and hope for the best, plus they're in our hands now :xflove:
