As many of you know i've recently adopted a dove. I hope to tame him, but he only seems driven for his regular food (mainly sunflower seeds.) I'm currently trying to take his training a step back and getting him used to me the way you would a pigeon (free-roaming, tossing sunflower seeds.) What else could I do?

My doves and pigeon all like the tiny Zupreem fruity pellets, most good bird stores may give you a sample to try. I'm thinking if you just keep slow going with him, he'll get used to you and maybe hold his food in your hand in your lap to get him to come to you?

If sunflower seeds are his favorite food definitely remove those from his normal diet so he only get them directly from you! That way you are the ultimate source of tasty treats.

Do you mean as a treat or as a meal? Stupid question.

Not stupid, treat,,meal,,it's an idea to get him used to hands, coming to you, sitting on you,all part of the bonding process.
