Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I've just read about sprouts for Ekkies and was wondering...I have coriander and fennel (gold) among other plants in my garden (buckwheat too...). Do I dry the seeds and then sprout them, or just try sprout them 'fresh' or freeze them? I have lots of other goodies for them in my garden, rose hips, pyracantha, hawthorn, berries too. Those I'll feed fresh or frozen I guess.

Thanks for any information you can give,

It is a way of bringing the thread back to the top of the recent post list so that more members will see the thread again.

Thanks expressmailtome!

Have decided to dry some stuff (flowers, rose hips, hawthorn berries) and to freeze small portions of same to see which my new pal will eat. He just turned 3 mos old and hopefully I'll get him at the beginning of October.

Going to buy some seeds for germination and will see how that works out....
Have tried changing avatar...with a picture of my little birdie sent by breeder...
Maybe it will work next time.

I have done some sprouting, but I've always bought mixes specifically for sprouting. I know some of them include organic beans, lentil, green peas. Good luck! I need to start sprouting again too!

So I have another question for the eclectic specialists out there...I've checked in books and on the net but can't find the answer....Can Eckies eat elderberries? I have them growing all over my garden...they have invaded everything!

Thanks anyone,

PS my baby at almost 3 months old!

From what I've read and heard, Elderberry (the ripe berries and the flowers, as long as they have not been treated with any chemicals/pesticides) are safe for parrots.
I may be mistaken, but I think the leaves (and possibly branches) can possibly be toxic??
Your baby is adorable! I'm glad we are adding to our eclectus "parront" numbers on the forum! :) I adopted my boy about a year and a half ago, and he's truly amazing. :xflove:
