That is beyond sad and I would consider it criminal that DuPont, a very well known company, is either blatantly lying or stupidly unaware of the potential toxicity of its non-stick cookware to both birds and humans.

There was a lawsuit a few years back and they and some other major manufacturers agreed to 'voluntarily' stop using teflon in cookware. Voluntarily probably because they still didn't want to admit that it was dangerous - but at least it means most cookware sold today is safer for birds.

The really aggravating thing is that it isn't only cookware. Lots of cookware these days have PTFE/PFOA-free safe nonsticks and advertise as such. But it's a lot harder to find a non-PTFE/PFOA waffle iron or electric grill or rice cooker. You have to be careful of toasters, ovens, even things like hair dryers where you wouldn't even think of it because some of them have nonstick coatings and you need to check what they are made of.
