One copy of anything is not a backup. It's a great idea but you should not be deleting the originals from the phone unless you have TWO copies of your file. If you have only one copy, you will lose it. Not if but when.

"Google Photos" will do all that for you. It will "automatically" upload and backup your photos to the cloud. Auto organized. Very powerful search right inside your photos. Unlimited storage.

And it's "free".

I have a wireless flash drive. Yes it works. What they don't tell you is how slow the transfer rate is between your phone and the drive. If you think you will be able to just fire up the drive and "quickly" look at or download pics you're going to be disappointed.
