So exciting to breed these little birds. I feel at least they will not out live us right, lol. My gouldians are all green backs and this time I have 3 yellow and white babies. I cannot wait for them to molt. They just left the nest 3 days ago. Super sweet.

Jealousy! I would love to be able to watch them every day, as they molt and grow. They are going to be little gems!

(I've seen some of these beautiful little meeps in my bird store! They are one of the prettiest birds I've ever seen!)

Excuse my ignorance... but i have questions...
1) The babies are the ones that look brown on the bottom perch (in the first pic), is that right?:shy:
2) What are the three little bead looking things on the sides of their beaks?

Thanks

Yes, the babies are currently brown. The beads on the sides of the beak help the parents with feeding the chick. They make it quick and easy to get the food into one beak, and then move on to the next, even in the dark.

Thanks! VERY INTERESTING!
Do the beads just fall off at some point?

Good questions - I hadn't even noticed the beads on the sides of the babies beaks. I had to go back and check them out.
