One of my 4 cockatiels has lost feathers on his head & under his wings. I have no idea what the deal is. Cricket is perfectly fine otherwise. Eating, playing, chirping, flying etc. My other cockatiels are fine. Cricket is 9 years old. Any ideas??

I'm assuming it's not just a molt? Tiels do have a bit of a bald spot under their wings. Is someone plucking his head?

The top of their head is also bald because they have a crest. They are in the cockatoo family.

No, not a molt. I don't think Cookie is pulling feathers out. Cookie is Crickets son & they are cage mates. They seem to get along fine besides the occasional squabble.

And also I don't know what kind of tiel it is but lutinos often have larger bald spots on their heads than other mutations.

He is a lutino mix mutation. I mean all under his crest & beyond has no feathers & no pin feathers. Almost like someone shaved them off.

Hmm. I don't know- that's really weird. Could he have maybe rubbed them against something?

Lutino's all have a bald spot and the size of the spot varies between birds...... it's sounds normal. If you don't think it's normal in this case post a pic so we can all see....

So your bird looks different now than ever before? Any change in diet, or anything else?
