After the loss of my gcc Hawaii, we have decided to build a bird room for Sophia and future companions. My husband works at Home Depot. Is there rope that would be considered safe/unsafe to string around the room and make nets with? I want something affordable and safe!

I get jute twine. It's safe for them. Along with sisal rope. No poly twine.
Unfortunatly at mine atleast, all the cotton ropes are mixed with other things like nylon so they can't be used. Only 100% cotton is safe.
Also any metal you use has to be stainless steel or aluminum. The rest contain zinc which is very toxic to birds.

I like Sisal and Hemp the best. You have to be careful and make sure that the rope you get is bird safe. Some sisal ropes have an oily film on them and not good for birds.

home depot has an 100% natural sisal rope that is not big enough to make perches from but can be used for making a climbing net or covering pvc.
