I am lucky enough to live in (arguable) the most beautiful place on earth The Top End Of Australia, Darwin, Northern Territory. I am approx 60 mins from Kakadu National Park & live in a rural area so have a great deal of wildlife on my property, so i thought i would share some of the Locals . We also have flocks of Cockatoo's & Kookaburra's but i don't have many photo's of those as they are considered a bit of a pest over here lol.

This is my FAVOURITE of all the birds around the area, the Forrest Kingfisher.

Yes Matt it is a Tawny Frog Mouth & those photos were taken up close not zoomed in I was standing about 1.5 mtrs from that bird, we have a family of Tawny's on our block, that often do 'fly-buys' on us. We have lived here for 15 years and they have been here as long as we have, we see new babies every year or so, the last photo is actually one of their babies on our driveway late one night they are very trusting with us, it's pretty cool.

You can see in the first photo of the Tawny that he is staring straight at me lol he sat like that for about 15 mins giving me different poses and then looking at me in between each one lol it was awesome. That cycad he is sitting on is about 20 mtrs from my back door.

I do love living here and I am very lucky, I would not live in a city if my life depended on it after living here I'd be lost without the odd Tawny Frogmouth landing beside me on the chair I'm sitting on

I recommend Darwin & Kakadu all of those bird photos (except the Tawn frogmouth) are at Fogg Dam which is 10 mins from my house I often drive out there and just watch, it's so isolated and quiet it's a photographers dream.

Lovely! How lucky you have such wildlife around you. I'd love to live near a national park. I do have gamelands near me, and they do.
