Hello :)
Illa is a blue Indian Ringneck Parrot hen I had 3 years ago. I was given her by her previous owners, who described her as a complete monster. I didn't (and don't) believe any bird is truly 'lost', although told at the time she was a lost cause and would be a waste of my time. I still wanted her, so they willingly gave her to me. I guess they kind of thought 'well I don't have to deal with her anymore'...?
The man grabbed her by the wing and chucked her into the cage I had (I was mortified and outraged :rage: :scared3: ). No wonder she was a 'monster'. When I got home she went into another cage. To begin with she was terrified of everything to do with people. But eventually started to calm down after a month. There was no problem getting her to eat pellets (she almost seemed to prefer them over seeds) or vegetables and fruit.
Four months down the track she started wanting to come out (as long as I was at the other end of the room (she was also clipped) ) after a year and a half she would fly to people and perch of your shoulder or head. Although hands were a big no, as well as hopes of touching. She did let my brother get away witg a little more though...
A friend came over, and I'm not kidding, she flew over to her and gave her kisses! The only person she'd ever done that to...
Now she lives the friend of mine, whom she absolutley loves.

I guess Illa and your friend were destined to be together.

These stories make my day so good :)
I LOVE how you acted so selfless and gave the bird to someone she obviously belongs with!

And the good thing, you still get to see and play with her, but you don't have to clean her cage!

Sometimes it's just meant to be and you and your friend were just a stepping stone to where she truly belongs. Good for you in helping her and letting her go where she is truly happy. I bet she remembers you and at this point might even be fond of you.
