Sitting on the front steps
Hi everyone,
I had a young galah come to live with me in the begining of December. She was rescued by a good friend of mine (who also rescues and cares for various birds). She had to stay with my friend for about a month, as she was on deaths door for well over 2 weeks. She had been completely mistreated and left to die. She was on medications and fluids, as well as immune boosters and hand rearing formula for at least 2 months. Once she had most of her weight back (she was still a little underweight when I got her ) she came to live with me. Dhe was rerrified of everything, from people to simple evetyday noises. It took her 2 months to settle down enough and start eating/drinking normally. Andceven longer before she wiuld even come outside her cage. The first time she felt the floor she screamed in fear! Eventually she lwarned the floor wasn't bad and even started coming up to me. Although she only ever trusted one other person who wasn't me...
In the middle of September I got her DNA tested and tested for diseases and illnesses. I found out she was indeed a she and unfortunately that she was positive fir PBFB. Sadly she passed away early August
I will miss you my sweet Bandit
