I've always had a soft spot for Volar. He's looking so handsome.

The red on the underside of Sambuca's wings must look beautiful when he flies!

 He is not the best flyer but I think he gets better with every flight. Him and Volar are well over 1300 grams. Both birds were clipped their entire lives before me and it is not second nature to either of them. Flying bowling balls. :p Sam being so young might overcome it, he would tell you it's a lot of work to fly when you can just as easily walk. :D

What are you doing to help Sam and Volar overcome their flying difficulties? After her feather pull a few months ago, Tulip's wings are finally starting to grow back in. I think in another couple of months she'll be fully flighted. Only, she's been clipped her whole life and she is HUGE. She's right around 1500g and my vet still thinks she could stand to gain a little bit of weight. Her keel is pretty prominent. I'm hoping that when her wings grow in that she'll learn to fly and adding muscle mass will balance her weight out. But I don't know how to teach her to fly! I'm worried that even once her feathers grow back she's just going to sit there because she's spent her whole life clipped and she is just so heavy. Flying bowling ball is an accurate description! How are you teaching yours to fly after all that time clipped?

Volar I don't encourage much, he flies when he flies and that is all. :)

Sam... we throw him. Sounds crazy but he is a good flyer, just no motivation. My husband and I throw him back and forth, he does about 2-3 before he has had enough. We started throwing him onto the bed but it was no where near enough room for him.

Tiko is flying. Flew his ring stand across my stage too. :lol:I had to tape the wheels.
