"Start a New Conversation" not found under Conversations page

As the title says I'm trying to PM someone but can't start a new Conversation because the button just isn't appearing. I am referencing this old thread to try and figure out the problem but can anyone else give me some insights? Has the button been moved?

P.S. the person I'm trying to reach is Birdiemarie about changing my username! Any help on that front would be great too!

You have to have 20 posts to be able to send pm's. Let me know what you would like your user name changed to and I will take care of it.
