today is free shipping day, (freeshippingday.com) so I was checking out the pet category and found an etsy shop selling hand knitted sweaters for chickens.
she really needs more pics of chickens wearing them! there's only a small one in her avatar.
I hope if you buy one you will post a pic for us!!

Only if you want each chickie in the household to have one! They go for about $40 a piece! I just talked to the owner of the store and we have to get some measurements on the Princess to make sure we get one that fits her properly!:)

from what I read on that page, it is important to have the sweater fit snug against her belly, otherwise when she walks her feet might get caught in it.
that is why she sells all the different sizes. There are other etsy pages also offering chicken sweaters, many of them custom-made probably for the same reason. wouldn't want any accidents!!!

They are cute but in my opinion not worth the money. First of all, the "vintage yarn" that she thinks is so rare, is not. I was gifted about 30 skeins which I promptly regifted to a friend to make baby blankets for charity. The "payment" for the yarn was to knit hats for her children. I am working with the stuff and it is stiff and uncomfortable to wear but chicken have feathers so maybe they won't mind scratchy. The pattern is pretty easy. It looks like a stockinette background with a garter border using increases or decreases and buttonholes at the bottom and a garter stitch neck. But it takes time and that was what she is charging for. For all of you knitters here who would like to knit a chicken sweater here is a free pattern.
