I am more than not interested in the game forum and would like to block that forum from coming up when I use "New Posts". Is there a way to do that?

I don't think so, but maybe a mod will come by and let you know for sure :)

Me too. Wish there was a way to corral them, so it would be easier to see bird topics. Ten out of twenty threads on the opening new post page is games.

Before you click on New threads you can always to to the Games section.. click on it open it and scroll up to the top left hand section of the board and click on mark forums read. (its under the Forums Tab)

This will erase the posts in the games section then you can then click on new threads and see all the threads you want without the many games posts.

Just to warn you if the games section is busy with members posts you will see more posts from there under New Posts again.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried it. It still leaves them visible on my list, just not bolded.

New posts does not just show posts you haven't read. What it does is shows the posts in all forums in chronological order of last post
