I was sort of blown away a bit today, about an hour ago my new bird called Toffee who hatched on August 31, making him about 8 weeks and 5 days old started to talk today. A clear 'hello' but the other stuff was a bit burbled. He got up on top of his cage and started sort of yawning or something, opening his mouth really wide, no noise, I thought something was wrong, then Blah blah blah and more blahs hahaha, was fantastic tbh. Is this normal to start talking so young?? o_O
My last male was at least 3 or even 4 months old when he started just the basic's. I feel this wee guys gonna be a chatter box hopefully :)

Toffee just home- Taken 26th of this month (Monday)

On his cage, notice his pink coloured baby beck orrrr

I honestly don't know because I have never had a talking tiel (never bothered to teach any of my tiels to talk) I do have a female who has whistled hello since she was about 9 weeks old (shes 4 months as of yesterday). I just want to say Toffee is gorgeous.

I love the pics! What a beautiful bird! My tiel didn't start talking until 3 or 4 months old. I think your cute little guy might be a real conversationalist! :)

For the most part no there is the oddball who will whistle (like Riley) but in general females do not talk or whistle

The late and sadly missed Anne (of Anne and the gang) had a female tiel that talked quite a bit.

Wow! That's impressive. I was impressed with my ekkie when, at thirteen weeks, she started making monkey sounds when she'd listen to the radio. xD Your 'tiel blew her right out of the water!

What a cutie!

Stryder says, "Whatcha Doing?" "Hello," "Merlin" and "Pretty Bird"

He's 11 years old :) He also has a really good belly laugh and burps.

I've got a similar situation with a baby Quaker, that is right at 12 weeks old and is saying All kinds of things. As a matter of fact, as I'm typing this, he's trying to sing: birdies on the bus go up and down, and is bobbing his head up and down! LOL
