I noticed while Riley was getting her scritches earlier it looked like she may have a cold or sinus infection. Good news is her vet appointment is in 9 hours.

Riley has a bacterial infection and is congested but as long as I keep her warm and give her the baytril the vet thinks she will be fine.

She has to stay at the vets tonight in the incubator :( but it will make her better and the vet is being extra nice and not charging me for the overnight. He said this way i will have time to get the heat lamp and hood lamp and have it all set up for her. He also said that because she is young and I brought her in when I first noticed her symptoms (watery eyes and just looking like she didn't feel good) she should come out of this with no problem.

Thank you guys for the support. I decided to hold off voulenteering at the parrot sanctuary untill Riley is all better. The hardest part will be not letting her out of the cage for 2 weeks. She LOVES her out of cage time and gets very loud and vocal until she gets it. My vet was explaining to me he prefers a birds enviroment to be kept at 90 degrees so that when they are sick they aren't spending their engergy to keep warm and their immune system can fight off whatever they have (in this case with the help of antibotics).

That must be so hard for you to leave her overnight! :( Im so sorry she is sick. I'm so glad the vet thinks she will pull through. Yikes! Two weeks in her cage will be very rough. Especially when she starts to feel better and wants to come out. 0f course it's worth it, but hard. Sounds like she will be very cozzy! You will have to sit by her a ton! :)

She always wants out. Even at the vets office today she was being loud until I took her out to get weighed and then she just jumped off the scale onto the table and wanted to play. Atleast she is still acting normal. and yes leaving her there is killing me but I know it's for the best. I'd feel better if she was in her cage but because it's huge the actual dementions (not including the stand) are 22.5 inches x 30 inches x 40 inches. But she is going to be in her tiny travel cage for the next two weeks :( .

it's so hard when they don't feel good. Rocky has been sick with cancer and some days it so tough to get his meds in when he is fighting the syringe/ eydropper and biting the living daylights out of your hands too boot. so i know what you are going thru. :hug8:
