Yahoo! A breakthrough

Charlie did a turnaround for a treat. He did it 3 times. I know it sounds like no big deal but he is pretty quirky and settling into his new home on his own time frame. I am so excited Yeah Charlie....more to come!

I tried to edit above post without success: I have had Charlie a little.over 22 months now. He has watched.Max.do the turnaround for treats the whole time and has simply rebuffed me.

On a sad note writing this post and not getting an encouraging response from Anne is really sad for.me. Reality is slow to sink in

A trick is always a big deal. Secret has learned to do the turnaround and it makes my heart smile. Secret has also learned to"wave" by lifting her right leg up high. I've managed to get the parrot to do 3 things in a row.......because she wants to do whatever one to get a treat.

So yes, be proud and smile! We are still taking a step at a time but sometimes those are knee high steps!!!

I think tricks are great, not because you want some ultra cool and talented bird, but the training aspect gives you a sort of bonding time and gets them to use their brains. I feel it can be very healthy and beneficial.

Tricks are opportunities to train and bond and to occupy that smart feathered brain, exactly Abigail! A bird doing tricks probably acts out a lot less

Stunned....Charlie ran over to me and did several turnarounds on his own without direction. He got his treat Jackpot!!!!
