Sophie is not an African Grey. She is an Owl-Chicken (according to her). This morning, she is combining hooting and buck-buck-bucking and yelling "That's an owl-chicken!" and laughing. I told her that owls and chickens usually don't get along, and asked about her parents. She said "Oh stop."

Oops, now we've switched to cockatoo imitations.

That is so adorable!

She was blathering away this morning and singing, so I very unobtrusively set up the phone about 8 feet away from her, pointed at the ceiling and turned it on. She immediately switched to doing cockatoo impressions (which NO-ONE wants to hear) and didn't say one interesting thing. Now the phone is off and she's chatting away and singing her new song, which we've been hearing for about 2 weeks. It goes like this "Poke, poke, poke - Poke your Squabble - Poke your Squabble". Soph's nickname is Squab, and she calls herself Squabble a lot. We think it is a combination of Squab and Trouble.
