Thanks Val! She didn't really seem impressed with my handiwork though. :yapyap:

None the less, she gave writing calligraphy with a quill her best shot. photo-104.JPG

She couldn't quite get the hang of it though..... :banghead:

Oh that's so sweet. I would love to use such beautiful feathers for a dream catcher. Love the Quill.

Thats amazing!
I wish I could do that with River's tail feathers when he molts them.... but they wouldn't look very pretty. He's still a baby and his tail fathers are kind of ratted on the ends =(
I cant wait for him to molt them.
Its driven me crazy since the day I brought him home.

Good idea for the future tho!!!

Great idea! Or, if you have enough, I have seen some epic head dresses! I need to make something special from Tori's feathers. Not sure what....

Thank you. You can spruce the feathers up even if they're rough looking. I love preening her molted feathers after she has chewed them up. It's fun making them go from gnarly and spriggy to clean and slick again. She just sits there watching me, perhaps impressed at my preening skills.
I understand about wanting new feathers in though. We want our kids to look healthy, happy, and sharp.

That quill is lovely!
And it's even better to make lovely things out of the feathers of our loved ones.
She's got some beautiful ones.

Some wonderful people had this made for me from Hank's feathers after he died. A Painted Sparrow (Jamie Homeister | Facebook) actually did the work - she does some pretty amazing work. You might want to consider this for Tori's feathers.

Jasper, my female GW, who was Hank's love for 12 years before he died.

Haha, yeah. She's very kind to my apartment. She loves getting down on the floor so I'll have to watch out with spring. I don't want her to think a cabinet or desk cubby is a cozy nest site.
Now that I am at my parent's house for the summer, it is FULL of old varnished wood furniture. She has never touched any of it before but my mother is terrified that she will and keeps wanting Val put in a cage. :( I don't think any animal belongs in a box or on the end of a string if you can help it.

That is an AMAZING idea! THANK YOU!!!!
:hug8:
I asked for a couple tail feathers when tori died and the vet brought me back an entire bouquet! Poor Tori probably looked like a rainbow cockatoo. :shy:
I draw and paint so I bet I could come up with something really nice for Miss Tori. My German Shepherd Tanner just passed away just a few months before Tori. I'll attach a portrait I drew of him last year.
Is Hank there with Jasper in your avatar picture? Do you mind me asking what happened to him? No biggie if you don't want to say anything, I was just curious since these guys can live so long.

Very insightful reading, thank you! Sorry about Hank. I'm happy for him though. He had it good with you PLUS he had a pretty green wing girlfriend! :dance4:

You're going to end up looking like a rainbow cockatoo! She's pulled 3 more tail feathers. 10155248_1497276760494964_8899336803355299987_n.jpg
