Some one isn't taking care of their Fids and has a 1yr old starling they want to get rid of it cant be let out in the wild now . it was hand fed .... Does anyone know anything about these????? food ect.. THANKS!!!

Starlings are softbills. They are prone to hemochromatosis and need a low iron pellet diet due to this. They also should be given mealworms as a source of protein and some fruit. Hard boiled eggs should also be included.

Also, you should check the laws of his/her state. European starlings are considered an invasive species and are therefore illegal to own in some states.

Starling Talk, the link to which Matt has posted, is an excellent site for info on Starlings and other birds. Got a lot of info and assistance there which helped me with my "foundling" sparrow.
