Chris ~

Thank you, Danita, for letting us know this sad news. I'm deeply sorry ML.![]()
Oh no, Hank! Im so sorry. My peanut was treated for asper, but wasnt really diagnosed with it. Shes doing well now, as is everyone else. I hope its not asper. If your worried, test him, but as I understand that there can be false positives? Good luck.
I am sorry for your loss of Hank ML![]()
Jesus I feed my Pios Peanuts in shells all the time as a treat no more of that I know you guys will not recommend it but I was there bowls with bleach and rinse them till no smell of bleach at all. AND thank god I keep there drop pans clean everyday I bet that would spawn mold bad it left set.thanks for the info and so sorry about Hank . it really comes down to heavy moister or humid climate is the beginning problem. a Cellar would not be a good place to have birds unless you ran dehumidifier and airfilter purifier.

There is no one more dedicated or capable of giving Hank the best chance at life for as long as he was here. My sincerest condolences Mary Lynn. Please take care of yourself and give Jasper a scritch for me.![]()
I frequently post condolences, but it's rare that I actually shed tears.
I'm shedding them now, for ML and Hank. Her love for him is something that, to me, is one of those better simple facts of life that makes the world seem less drab and awful. ML was there to offer me some help and good practical advice when I first got my Elvis, and I'll never forget that. She taught me confidence and practicality, valuable lessons for those who keep large macaws, especially rehomes. And, she taught people around the world about Asper and its devastating effects. And we who love birds, maybe especially we who love macaws, well, we waited in vigil with her for the last several years...
Fly high and proud, big Hank. You helped make the world a little bit better and brighter while you were here.

I'm so sorry!
I ended up reading all Mary Lynn's posts, getting to know her and Hank (and Jasper).
How sad Hank finally lost his battle. I'm guessing it's the Asper that was at fault?
It sounds like he ended up in just the home he needed, and the last years of his life far eclipsed the first harsh years he lived.
I'm happy he found peace, love and a home with ML.
RIP Hank.
