There are a couple of noises that Althea regularly makes that I'm not sure if they are usual caique sounds or ones that are mimicry.
The one that I'm more unsure of is harder to describe. It seems to be excited and affectionate and I didn't hear early on in having her. It's a panting like noise (hard to explain and sounds like it could be bad from that description but I don't know how else to explain it well) that she does usually if I've been gone for the day or if she's been playing independently, excitedly and she holds on to my finger while doing it. I think that it could possibly be her mimicking me kissing and giving raspberries on her belly when I wrestle around with her.
The second noise is one that I'm fairly certain is a normal caique whistle that sounds like a wolf whistle, but my brother keeps arguing it's something she's learned. I think that it's natural or something she learned early at her breeder's, since wolf whistles are such a common thing for birds to know. She elaborates lots more with a lot of whistling around the wolf whistle type whistle but since he's been whistling to her she's done the wolf whistling a lot more so I think that also he could have altered a natural whistle.
In other news about her vocalizations since we've been living at my parents house in the woods she's been talking to outside birds a lot and become more vocal and loud. I'm able to hear her at the road some days from the house at the back of a 4 acre wooded property, I don't think I ever heard her from inside a house before. I don't mind the increase in noise, I think having more outside birds to talk to has improved her mood a lot.
